"hi frontier is a collaborative effort, whose spine, consisting of John Gonzales and Norman Broomhall, coalesced in the in the dark nether regions of space many years ago. With the addition of Daelinar Adama playing rhythmic drums, hi frontier continues to provide sound and noise beyond the stratosphere."

Building Sale Forces 35 Denver-Area Businesses to Vacate Within 18 Days

LAKEWOOD, CO, Nov. 13, 2009 – The sale of a 30,000 square foot building at 9635 W.... Colfax Avenue in Lakewood will unexpectedly displace 35 independent businesses by the end of November. The move also disrupts a variety of already-scheduled community events and services.
Since February, 2009, the building has been tenanted by the Blue Sky Collective, an eclectic mix of artists, musicians, small business start-ups, instructors, wellness and service providers, and first-time entrepreneurs.

The collective is the vision of former social worker Jen Schafer-Habib, whose dream was to create an affordable place where independent businesses, co-ops, artists and musicians could come together to provide creative services, entertainment and education to the community, and support local culture and non-profits. Blue Sky Collective has been recognized by the Denver Westword as the “Best New Store on Colfax Avenue,” and was nominated for KMGH Denver’s 7 “A-List” of favorite local businesses.

On Thursday, November 12th, Schafer-Habib was notified by Colorado Community Bank that the property is changing ownership, and that she and her tenants would have 18 days to vacate the premises, or pay five times more per square foot than they are currently paying. On Friday the 13th of November, Schafer-Habib discovered that the locks had already been changed, and that building access would be limited from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday, limiting classes, events, services, and the ability of tenants to move.

BUILDING SALE DISPLACES BUSINESSES (page 2)
In addition to her role the Blue Sky Collective facilitator, Schafer-Habib also runs a used bookstore on the property, and she must move approximately 100,000 books by the end of the month. “We don’t want to disrupt the sale of the building or the redevelopment of the property,” she said, “but we do need a fair amount of time to move, or this sale will shut down 35 businesses and a lot of community services. We are currently looking to partner with a property owner eager to re-tenant a location and support local arts, music, wellness and culture.”

One of approximately 50 stakeholders displaced by the building’s sale is Robin Beckwith, a 57 year-old silversmith and first-time entrepreneur. Beckwith is striving to rejoin the workforce and replace the Social Security Disability income she has lived on since 1999, following a traumatic brain injury.

“The Blue Sky Collective has given me a second chance to contribute,” Beckwith said. “It’s given me my self-respect. I don’t want to leave it, and I’m scared. If I had more time I could figure out something… but 18 days isn’t enough.”

Also affected is Todd Munson, first-time entrepreneur and proprietor of a thriving dance studio. Munson, whose wife is seven months pregnant, said, “I’ve invested thousands of dollars into creating a professional quality dance floor and studio in the building. To realize that I have 18 days to move an entire studio seems insensitive to me and everyone who patronizes the building as well.”

Blue Sky Collective hosts a used bookstore, live music, open mic poetry, roll playing games, a record/vinyl store, an art co-op, a healing co-op, three dance studios, two community rooms for movement classes and art workshops, a tea and candy shop, and a community acupuncture clinic. The collective also hosts concerts, author readings, benefits for non-profits and those in need, gaming tournaments, art exhibits, jam sessions, and drum circles.

Hello, fellow Tribelings!

So. . . I don't exactly know how it happened, but I'm moving to Western Colorado. . . and I know exactly 1 person. lol. So.. . who is out there? Grand Junction to I don't know. . . less than 2 hours from there. I'm a laid back. . . well. . . actually if you count a serious clean freak as laid back. . . so I guess I'm a semi laid back, open minded, extremely unjudgemental woman moving out there and I need some friends. Companions. Guides. People to help me explore the unknowns of Western Colorado, preferably people who won't comment on my flame red hair (I know I know, it's black in the picture. But its red now.) or my willingness to accept any religion or gender to love. :) I like almost all music. . .I'll be glad to dance to hiphop as much as get my hips moving to belly dancing, to attempting country line dancing. I really just like to get my ass on the dance floor and have a good time. I'm a heavy reader, and love having actual conversations about real things. I'm just wanting to find some kindred spirits.

Sienna will be playing Tibetan Bowls to take you on another journey of sound. The bowls create healing energy, and have been used for over 2000 years. Their harmonious vibrations have the ability to take us out of ourselves, and bring peace and harmony to the body, mind and spirit.

An integral part of the evening is the video art by Dorothy Tanner & Marc Billard. The videos consist of multi-layered colorful abstract imagery that lets your mind freely roam into inner space.

i am in a bad situation and need to get out. I have tried to make it work but he thinks it is just not good enough. I am loving and caring person that puts up with a lot of shit but this situation has just pushed me over the edge.
I have been feeling vibes from Boulder for a while now and would like to head there then CA where I am from with my tail between my legs.
i am a massage therapist but not with a nothing hours to be legal in CO, would like to make it happen. I am getting into hooping. I have a degree in photography and have been a admin assitant.
I am looking for a line on a job or a place to live. I love commuinty and being a part of something more then myself.
I have been in SF for the last 5 years and come from a great community and want to share the joy of that with others.

Since I have been free from the world of working retail sales for almost 8 months now after ofer 2 years of servitude, I have completely forgotton about the customer & employee stress that begats from the day after Thanksgiving... more commonly known as Black Friday. In this workshop, we will cover healing stretches for the torso & limbs, relaxing & meditative breathing techniques, & basic bellydance moves that will be layered & accented while maintaining strong posture. DNC Protest

I may be attending the DNC protest at the end of this month in Denver Colorado. I associate more with the left and hate McCain, but I believe that Obama is more likely to be the next president which is why I feel he should be pressured to take a more liberal/radical stance on issues like war and civil rights. I feel he is better than McCain by a wide margin, but it also seems like he has been moving to the "center". I strongly disagree with him granting immunity to the telecom companies when they violated our civil rights by spying on us. I also dont support the patriot act. I feel like these issues and others should be raised during the protests outside the Democratic national convention to pressure him on the issues that matter to us, even though I would be more likely to vote for him than McCain.

Anyway.....there is going to be a huge protest in your state, in Denver. It should be a lot of fun, as most protests usually are. Lots of interesting people show up.

Me an a few friends may be looking for a safe place to sleep between Denver or Boulder. We would be willing to camp outside, but we dont have the money for hotel rooms. Any tips or offers would be greatly appreciated.

How do you know if you're a Freak?

I always thought a freak was a deformed creature like the elephant man. Then my grandfather told me that the word freak also meant hippie back in the 60's. Is somebody a freak is they're just weird? Is freak a negative thing or is it something to be proud of? Does it just mean that you aren't normal? Frankly, I would never want to be normal. Boring, run-of-the-mill ordinary, that's normal. Are freaks liberal or conservative? Are they usually smart or are they braindead? So my question is...how do you know if you're a freak.

He doesn't know where he's been and he doesn't know where he's going.

He has no name.

He doesn't know his birth date.

He has no home and no job.

He's been called a vagrant, a bum and John Doe.

He wishes he knew more to counter those accusations, but he can't remember anything.

He calls himself a "real live nobody."

He started calling himself Benjaman Kyle, which he thinks Benjaman could be his or a family members name, and Kyle so he would have the initials BK like the Burger King where he was found.

The only life he knows started shortly before 7 a.m. Aug. 31, 2004, when a former Burger King manager found Kyle lying next to a Dumpster behind the restaurant on U.S. 17 in Richmond Hill, according to a police report.

Kyle was naked and unresponsive. He was sunburned and covered in bites from fire ants, according to paramedics' reports.

He has very good recollection of Denver, The restaurants or coffee shops listed above, specifically the ones located on East Colfax area. We are not sure how long he has been missing from where he came. He seems to think he was born and lived some time in Indiana, and then moved and lived in Colorado for the longer part of his life. He also has more than average knowledge and interest in the Restaurant business, and architecture angles of it.

have a couple of visiting BM staff members as our special guests.

This potluck is an opportunity to sit with your Burning Man Regional
Contacts, ask us questions, suggest projects that you have an interest
in, introduce your BM granted art project and solicit help, weigh in
on Apogaea, the Recompression and the Decompression, connect up with
leaders of theme camps on the playa, etc. We know that you want to
have a voice in the future of your community, so come and speak up!

The building that we are meeting in has an indoor, heated pool and hot
tub so bring your swim suits. There is a pool table and ping-pong as
well. So, cook up your favorite dish and come out of your winter
hibernation!

As an added incentive, (this is absolutely a bribe, because we really
want to everyone to come :) we brought back piles of Burning Man
schwag from the Regional Summit. There will bee free stickers,
postcards, posters, and buttons for everyone!

THINGS THAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

PARKING:
Behind the building in the alley between Pennsylvania and Pearl, on
the 8th Ave end, is a parking lot. It is marked with "Don't park here
or you will be towed" signs. You can park there. (It's rented out to
an office during the week, but is fair game on weekends)

ENTRANCE:
YOU WILL NOT WANT TO ENTER THE MAIN FRONT DOOR! Along the front of the
building you will see a large rack of bikes. Behind that is a set of
steps leading down to a door. This is the entrance that you want.

BRING:
Please bring your own plates, utensils, beer/drinks, cups, and a dish
to share. If the weather is amicable, we will have a grill going.
Don't forget a swim suit and a towel, last time we had to scrounge up
shorts for the people who hadn't intended to swim but were enticed by
the warm steamy hot tub. :)

Hey folks!!! I'm going to be teaching a weekly class every Sunday in Golden, CO starting February 24th from 2:30 to 5:00pm. Cost is $16 for a single drop-in class or $105 for a 10-class punch-card. Men are welcome to 1 free sample class if they are interested.

Class Description: In these classes, technical dance is taught to give the dancer a foundation within the dance, & also instinctual dance so the dancer no longer thinks about executing moves, but learns to do what comes naturally as if it were second nature.

Hammerhead Sharqi Dance Technique is a style of World Fusion Bellydance that is based in American Tribal Style (ATS) & heavily influenced by elements of Modern-Egyptian Cabaret Style, Hip-Hop, Hula, African, Indian, & Latin dances & bears subtleties of other dance & movement styles including Javanese, Japanese, Ballet, Lyrical, Modern, Jazz, Ballroom, Martial Arts, as well as Yoga, Pilates, Gymnastics, & many more.

This is the trailer for the fun-loving but poignant film that is a tribute to Gonzo journalist, Hunter S. Thompson, and a document of how his legacy continues to live on in the hearts and minds of his fans. Blasted!!! follows the many "Gonzo Patriots" across America that volunteered their personally owned artillery to fulfill the good doctor's last wish to have his ashes fired from a cannon. Before Johnny Depp became involved with the ceremony, and paid over 2 million dollars for a professional fireworks company to blast his friend's ashes from a 200 foot tall 'Gonzo fist,' an essay contest was held by the Aspen Daily News (at the request of Hunter's family) to see who would be available to provide the service of firing his ashes. If you'd like to be involved in a high-fashion runway show that's creative, fun, and benefits the creative community, now is your chance.

Deadline to sign up: February 1, 2008.

ADCD is now signing up teams to design paper fashion creations to be modeled in our runway show on March 20th, 2008.

What is the ADCD Paper Fashion Show?
Teams sign up to design fashions created from paper that's donated by our sponsors. These fashions are then showcased at our grand runway show, and voted on by our panel of judges. The fashions are then put up for auction to raise money for the charitable recipient benefiting from the event.

Designs may be for men or women. Your designs will be showcased by runway models—you may provide your own model, or we can provide talent for you. We will also provide hair and make-up services for models if needed. You may have as many people on your team as you wish - and there is no cost for participating. However, a maximum of 4 people per team will receive free admission, any additional team members receive the discounted ticket price of $10 (standard tickets are $25).

The Electronicult is doing another late night at Indian Springs Resort. It will be freezing outside, but in the arboretum it will feel like you just transported to the tropics. Under the translucent dome lies a tropical paradise. Come enjoy a mini vacation with good friends and VERY laid-back atmosphere. We will lounge in the hot springs swimming pool complete with flowering plants among live B anana and Palm Trees. The swimming pool is continually fed with hot mineral water at 115 degrees, with an overall temperature of 90+ degrees. We are selling tickets to cover out of pocket costs for this event. Space is limited so it will be totally intimate, like 100 people max. Last year it was about 50 of us and it felt great. This event was totally sexy last year, so I can’t wait for this one.

So I'm fairly new to this beautiful country, this wonderful city...

And I'm from southern Illinois, one of the most boring places in this country.

I really have no idea what to do around here, where to hang out, sweet places to party, places to meet people, etc. I don't really know many people. Any ideas?

I'm quite pierced, 18 random bits of metal, a few small tats (planning on a few bigger ones, but piercings are more affordable), I'm bisexual, I dig art of any kind, I fucking love music (most everything). I can be socially anxious at times, so sometimes clubs and places with large amounts of people can make me nervous, but other times I am comfortable and I can enjoy it.

I'm open to just about anything, city-life stuff like art exhibits, musicals, clubs, bars, concerts, shows, and also not city-life stuff, like hiking, skiing, bicycling, rock climbing, just chilling with mother nature.

Being from small town Illinois, I'm used to the only things to do to pass time is wander around Wal-Mart all night, hang out in the parking lot at Taco Bell, and partying in some random barn, I'm not used to all the different options that are available here.

Where do I even start?

Metal trash cans and other "STOMP" like percussion needed for three

Me and my two hommies just got a gig in Telluride for a stomp influenced percussion session for a few days at the ski and snowboard festival. We have tons of percussion toys but never knew a metal trash can would cost so much. in which case we need your help. we just want to borrow, if interested, buy. None the less the event is the 13 & 14 of December. Any can, buckets or anything you feel is fun to hit with a drum stick in a rhythmic motion. Let us know, any help is needed. please be quick so we can have some time to rehearse.

The only physical tips we have are that;
- He was upset when he left and had got in trouble with his female boss,
- He was supposed to meet some friends after work, but never showed up
- His Blazer was supposedly seen twice, in No. Utah, Park City within a week of his disappearance, but was never positively identified.
- October 18th a older man and 3-4 teenager boys were observed at a restaurant in Mexican Waters, AZ . . . the man behaved suspiciously, and four boys were all very hungry and ate their meal in silence. One boy looked like Chris, but could not be positively identified.
- 11/22/07 a girl working at a gas station in Cortex, CO "says' she can positively identify Chris as a boy that has come in several time, most recently with 2-3 day, trying to buy cigarettes . . . he is in bad shape, undernourished and drugged out . . . He doesn't have ID but has a passport.

Disintegration's HUGE HAlloween bash is tomorrow Saturday October 27th!!!This is the party of the year and not to be missed!! We go full out with decor, prizes and festivity!!

Disintegration was one of two places in Denver chosen to promote the new Ian Curtis/Joy Division movie "CONTROL." The promotional party, complete with give-aways, trailer clips, and more happens to fall on the same weekend as Disintegration's massive Halloween celebration. So in memory of Ian Curtis, and many other musicians and artists that have influenced our generation, Disintegration is proud to present "DEAD SOULS" a Halloween/Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) Celebration on Saturday, Oct. 27 at The Atrium (554 S. Broadway, Denver, CO).

Prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the costume contest. In order to be eligble for the contest, you do need to be dressed in the theme... either Dia De Los Muertos or a dead idol of your liking... Of course costumes are encouraged even if you're not going to be in the contest. It's Halloween and dressing up is always fun!

Wanting to sell their wares in a new store in Evergreen, Colorado. The store - called RavenGlass Gallery - will be opening at the beginning of October 2007. I'm looking for artists in all sorts of mediums - musicians and writers are welcome as well. The store will be run on a commission basis with a twist. YOU set the price on your work, we add a small markup to cover costs, and you get a monthly check. Hopefully, we'll be contacting you more often because your stuff is flying off the shelves! We cover the rent, the utilities, the set up, the selling, the taxes - all you have to do is provide your art and an inventory and price list.

If you'd be interested in consigning your art , or know artists - beginning or established - who would be interested, please feel free to contact us.

First Israeli-Arab "Joint" conference "Peace Process"

Green Leaf hopeful Israeli-Palestinian "Joint Venture" will bring peace

Weed for peace? Marijuana may achieve the end of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict -- or at least so believe members of the Green Leaf party, which organized the First Israeli-Arab Joint conference at Jerusalem's Hebrew University Wednesday.

Chairman of the Green Leaf party, Ohad Shem-Tov, explained the idea behind the conference. "Many youths, Jewish and Arab, act the same due to cannabis. This similarity creates a basis for common identity, identity that exists culturally as well owing to the music created around the use of cannabis. We believe this creates a basis for something that can in the future bring peace," Shem-Tov said.

The idea is to pass the peace pipe.

The conference also hosted many speakers. However, most of the speakers preferred to disregard the drug's peace-generating potential in favor of addressing its health benefits, the need for legalization, and invariable anger against "the establishment."

'Marijuana reconsidered'

The most conspicuous speaker at the event was Professor Lester Grinspoon, former Harvard lecturer in psychiatry and considered one of the top experts in the world on marijuana and its medical uses. His book "Marijuana Reconsidered" was published in 1971 with the aim of warning marijuana users of harm caused by the drug. However, in the process of writing, Grinspoon started to change his mind.

In addressing Green Leaf and their supporters Wednesday, Grinspoon explained that during his research, he started thinking he'd been mislead all
these years about the drugs negative effects and wanted to try marijuana. However, out of concern this would interfere with the scientific objectivity his research, he decided to delay his first toke -- until after the book's publication.

By the end of the conference, Green Leaf's vision of peace did not seem to be any nearer, especially considering the fact that all the Arab speakers invited to the conference cancelled at the last minute.
