He doesn't know where he's been and he doesn't know where he's going.

He has no name.

He doesn't know his birth date.

He has no home and no job.

He's been called a vagrant, a bum and John Doe.

He wishes he knew more to counter those accusations, but he can't remember anything.

He calls himself a "real live nobody."

He started calling himself Benjaman Kyle, which he thinks Benjaman could be his or a family members name, and Kyle so he would have the initials BK like the Burger King where he was found.

The only life he knows started shortly before 7 a.m. Aug. 31, 2004, when a former Burger King manager found Kyle lying next to a Dumpster behind the restaurant on U.S. 17 in Richmond Hill, according to a police report.

Kyle was naked and unresponsive. He was sunburned and covered in bites from fire ants, according to paramedics' reports.

He has very good recollection of Denver, The restaurants or coffee shops listed above, specifically the ones located on East Colfax area. We are not sure how long he has been missing from where he came. He seems to think he was born and lived some time in Indiana, and then moved and lived in Colorado for the longer part of his life. He also has more than average knowledge and interest in the Restaurant business, and architecture angles of it.

  • I have studied this picture and just don't recognize him. I have recently tried to find others I used to work with, but no luck. A lot of former white spot folk felt a little shunned by the hospitality industry in denver after and even before the closure. Not very many are in hospitality now.

I live out by DIA and don't drive - so - well I don't get around like I used to.

I will hold a copy of the pictures for a little while. Not giving up. Tribe net is not so popular or well known in denver. Wonder if we should try other sites and stuff. Wonder if we should start knocking on doors or something. Or walking around the hood with the pictures. This sounds like it was a while back - so many will have changed jobs and locations.

Doesn't seem like he was a loner like me living single in a hovel. He sounds like an outgoing social person who might have been more likely to turn up in the evening (I worked mostly breakfast & lunch). There were groups of all kinds that met there and sometimes people would be sent in advance of 10 pm to get the tables secured for those to come later (after the 12 step meeting, church or bar closing - what a diverse crowd we got) He sounds like someone who had a few people around him and I would bet he didn't live alone. I don't know what to do next, but I'll keep thinking. Anybody gets some ideas or is following this please share with the rest of us.

(other ideas - canvas property managers, groups, internet, social workers , counseling and self help groups , social organizations, Smiley's?, public events) I would assume that the usual channels were followed at DG or wherever.

I was around when there were a string of homeless murders in the early nineties, and though I think Denver has a fine police, they don't do well with something like this. I was around in the eighties when there were multiple murders of gay men on the hill and the cops were very - disengaged - well - don't even get me started. I just know this can be solved. I think though, it needs to be organized (I am not well equipped for that), and creative thinking is needed - sometimes the standard channels of social help kind of break down and can only do so much.
